Although COVID-19 may no longer officially constitute a public health emergency, it is still present and the College is remaining vigilant to help ensure that our community stays safe. 91福利社strongly recommends updated vaccination for all community members and will host several vaccine clinics this fall.

Dining Services

Hours for The Spa, Burgess, The Atrium, and Murray-Aikins Dining Hall are available on the . Academic year hours for Murray-Aikins Dining Hall begin on Saturday, Sept. 2. The Spa will be closed for Labor Day but will reopen for dining service on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and for late-night on Friday, Sept. 8. Burgess will be open for limited hours on Labor Day and resume regular fall hours on Sept. 5. Murray-Aikins Dining Hall will close after lunch (3 p.m.) on Tuesday, Sept. 5, for Founder鈥檚 Day. Dinner will be served at the celebration. 

Announcements

Parking, traffic information during student arrivals  

Students will begin to arrive Thursday, Aug. 31, impacting traffic and parking on campus. Employees are asked to avoid the North Broadway entrance and use the Clinton Street entrance between 8 and 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31, and Sunday, Sept. 3. The CDTA bus stop will be temporarily relocated to outside Williamson Sports Center on Thursday, Aug. 31, and will remain there until 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3. On both Thursday, Aug. 31, and Sunday, Sept. 3, the Jonsson Tower, Wait, and the west half of Case lots will be closed to employees between the hours of 7 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Zankel and the north end of West parking lots will be closed through the evening. The Williamson Sports Center parking lot will be closed on Sunday, Sept. 3. Palamountain, Falstaff鈥檚, Tang, North Hall, east end of West, and Arts Quad B parking lots will remain available. Founder's Day 

The entire 91福利社campus community is invited to join in celebration of the start of the fall semester with family-friendly fun at the Founder鈥檚 Day Picnic on Tuesday, Sept. 5, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. under the tent in Upper South Park. In addition to fabulous food, the event will feature music for all ages and fun for the kids, including a bounce house. Note that the dining hall will be closed during this time.

 

Staff and faculty meetings

The first staff and faculty meetings of the 2023-24 academic year will be held on Sept. 8. The staff meeting will take place at 1 p.m. The faculty meeting will take place at 3:30 p.m. on the second floor of Murray-Aikins Dining Hall and on Zoom. Additional details will be shared in the coming week.

  

Save the date: Opening Reception

President Marc C. Conner and Barbara Reyes-Conner invite you and your guest to attend an Opening Reception at Scribner House from 3:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8. Mark your calendars and plan to stop by to welcome new faculty and staff to 91福利社.

 

Orli, a new Amazon delivery option 

Amazon recently installed contactless lockers on the loading dock at Case College Center, which will be open 24/7 and can be used for personal and business deliveries. When checking out, choose 鈥渕ore delivery options鈥 and click . If you have the Amazon app loaded on your phone, your locker door should open on approach. Please see Skidmore鈥檚 Post Office staff for more information. 

 

Library Fair 

Drop by Scribner Library from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31, to visit the library's new Creative Corridor, learn about new library resources and changes to the website, chat with librarians and staff, and enjoy some snacks. 

 

Save the date: Ice cream social 

Please note the ice cream social is now scheduled for 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27. Join the Office of Advancement on the patio outside Burgess Caf茅, Case Center to celebrate the end of summer. Gluten-free and dairy-free options will also be available.

 

Compost bins for departments and residences

All residence halls and apartment buildings will receive a blue compost pickup bin during the first week of classes. Register your department for the program by filling out Learn more about Skidmore鈥檚 composting program online or by contacting the compost managers.

Tuition benefit and Tuition Exchange Program session 

Staff members from Admissions, Financial Aid, and Human Resources will lead a workshop that will address admission and financial aid requirements and offer an overview of the Tuition Exchange Program from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28, in Emerson Auditorium. The session should be particularly helpful to 91福利社employees with high school age dependents who plan to apply for Skidmore's internal or external tuition benefit programs, including the Tuition Exchange Program.

 

Tang Teaching Museum public hours and class visits 

All 91福利社community members are welcome to the Tang Teaching Museum during public gallery hours: from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. (The Tang is open for extended hours on Thursday until 9 p.m.) Faculty may arrange class visits outside public gallery hours by contacting Rachel Seligman.

 

Submitting requests for updates to 91福利社webpages

Requests for updates to departmental webpages should be submitted to webteam@skidmore.edu and are handled in the order that they are received. A large volume of requests is currently being processed; please plan accordingly. Departments interested in managing their own web content should contact Skidmore鈥檚 web team for training.

 

Now on view at the Tang 

There are now 100 works available for 91福利社students to borrow for the academic year. Visit  鈥,鈥 through Sept. 8. 鈥鈥 opens Saturday, Sept. 2. Organized by Associate Professor of English Paul Benzon in conjunction with his Scribner Seminar 鈥淲eird Books,鈥 the exhibition explores printed material in creative and critical ways. 鈥 opens Sept. 2 and explores the tension between attachment to this world and longing for an afterlife. Organized by Malloy Curator Rachel Seligman with Associate Professor of Asian Studies Benjamin Bogin, the exhibition is in conjunction with the exhibition 鈥.鈥
