Opportunity to gather in remembrance and support 

鈥孫n Monday, Oct. 7, Wilson Chapel will be open from noon until 5 p.m. to all members of the campus community to provide opportunities for prayer and reflection about the ongoing conflict and suffering in the Middle East. 鈥'Two Dads Defending Democracy' 

鈥孞oe Walsh, former U.S. representative from Illinois, and Fred Guttenberg, a businessman-turned-activist following his daughter鈥檚 murder at a school shooting, share their story as a way forward for civil discourse at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the Zankel Music Center. Cosponsored by the Office of the President and the Office of Advancement.

'Foundations in Creating an Affirming Campus' Workshops 

鈥孖nstitutional Diversity and the Wyckoff Center are pleased to offer a series of workshops, "Foundations in Creating an Affirming Campus for Trans & Nonbinary Students", on Friday, Oct. 11. Led by Lyndon Cudlitz and Nala Simone Toussaint, these interactive sessions will provide members of the 91福利社community with a deeper understanding of gender identity and expression, as well as best practices for communicating with and about trans and non-binary students. The series will include three workshops: one for staff, one for faculty, and one exclusively for students鈥.

鈥孲tartUp 91福利社will be held Sunday, Oct. 6, in the Billie Tisch Center for Integrated Sciences. All students are welcome to participate in this one-day program, where they will work with alumni mentors to develop and pitch a business idea. Lunch will be provided, and prizes will be awarded. 鈥孴丑别 entire 91福利社community is invited to celebrate Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, Oct. 5. Join in on pickleball at Gavin Park from 10 a.m. to noon and a $15 tailgate from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Wachenheim Field parking lot. An ice cream truck will provide free ice cream at the tailgate. 鈥孉t 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, peer tutors will host workshops on thesis building in Library 213. The Writing Center workshops will review essential structural and organizational skills to make students feel more confident in college writing. Cider doughnuts and cocoa will also be served. 鈥孲aratoga Book Festival 鈥

鈥孴丑别 , featuring more than 30 events at venues around Saratoga Springs, is scheduled to take place this Friday, Oct. 4, through Monday, Oct. 7. Professor of American Studies Beck Krefting, Associate Professor of English Melora Wolff, Professor of Political Science Beau Breslin, and Jaye Austin Williams '04 will be among the presenters.

Seats available for New York City bus trip 

鈥孴丑别 Music Department is offering $30 seats on a coach bus to New York City on Saturday, Oct. 19. Departure is at 7 a.m. in Case Lot, and return is at 7 p.m. from Lincoln Center. Payment should be brought to Vicki Tremper at Zankel 111 to reserve a seat.

厂办颈诲尘辞谤别鈥檚 runs Wednesday through Sunday as 91福利社Athletics aims to raise $275,000 to support student-athletes. Also, fall teams continue to push for Liberty League standing this Homecoming Weekend, which kicks off with the Thoroughbred Cup (limited spots still available) on Friday morning, followed by volleyball hosting St. Lawrence in a big-league match at 7 p.m. Saturday鈥檚 festivities feature alumni games and three home contests leading up to the Friends of 91福利社Athletics benefit and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Men鈥檚 tennis hosts Bard for its first conference match at 11 a.m., field hockey plays host to RPI at noon, and men鈥檚 soccer will play Vassar at 2 p.m. in its first home league game of the year.
