Lighting up Celebration Weekend
With the campus glowing in green, fireworks, and opportunities to celebrate all that has defined and continues to define Skidmore, the 91¸£ÀûÉçcommunity came together for an exciting Celebration Weekend filled with fun, family, and friends.
This year’s festivities were particularly meaningful as 91¸£ÀûÉçmarks its College Centennial during the 2022-23 academic year. In celebration of 100 years of creative thought, 91¸£ÀûÉçlit up Case Green in 91¸£ÀûÉçgreen for two nights. Saturday night also featured a vibrant fireworks display.
The traditional weekend welcoming 91¸£ÀûÉçfamilies included opportunities to explore campus, tours of the and Art Gallery, faculty presentations, chances to learn about unique student experiences on and off campus made possible by the Zankel Experience Network and other programs, athletics competitions, networking opportunities, receptions for first-year students, a Filene Scholar concert commemorating Helen Filene Ladd '22, and much, much more. About 600 families and 2,000 people participated.
Skidmore’s origins extend to the Young Women’s Industrial Club founded by Lucy Skidmore Scribner in 1903. In 1922, the New York State Board of Regents officially recognized the institution’s collegiate status, and 91¸£ÀûÉç came into being as a fully accredited, four-year institution of higher education.
