Safe Weight Loss

The obesity epidemic is a major concern in this country, but if you find yourself needing to watch your weight, do so safely. Continue to eat a variety of food groups, including carbohydrates and fats. Avoid fad diets as they often are of little nutritional value and typically do not bear long-term results. Studies have shown that long-term weight-loss can actually be hindered by diets that lack sufficient calories and nutrients; such diets often force your body into starvation mode (breaking down muscle mass) and cannot be maintained over long periods of time without re-gaining weight.4 Without proper nutrition, your body will not be as able to achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
