Invitation to Qualified High School String Quartets

Dear Colleagues in Music,

As part of the Elisabeth Luce Moore Chamber Music Residency, 91¸£ÀûÉç is excited to announce the Sixteenth Annual 91¸£ÀûÉç String Festival, featuring the world-renowned as artists-in-residence. We invite established high school string quartets to apply for participation in this year's festival.

Invited quartets will join 91¸£ÀûÉçstudents for a weekend of individual, non-competitive coaching with the dynamic Ying Quartet and 91¸£ÀûÉçString Faculty; performance of a prepared work of your choice in the acoustically spectacular Helen Ladd Concert Hall in the Zankel Music Center; join artist faculty, all festival quartets, and the Ying Quartet on stage for the festival finale in a group performance of Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings. 91¸£ÀûÉç offers this annual event at no cost to students and will make every effort to host the invited quartets as guests in faculty housing.

A highlight of the festival will be a performance by the Ying Quartet on Saturday, April 4th at 7 p.m. Tickets for this event are available on the or by calling 518-580-5321. We also welcome all string players and other music enthusiasts to attend all other festival events, which are open to the public and free of charge.

This festival has proven to be a valuable musical experience for high school string players, while giving them the opportunity to explore 91¸£ÀûÉç as a resource for their educational journey.

Since space is limited, I encourage your students to apply early, and welcome the opportunity to speak with you or your students about their interest in and preparation for this inspiring weekend of music-making.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Michael Emery
Senior Artist-in-Residence Violin/Chamber Music
